Hi all we have just bought a sterling eccles onyx and as we plan to take the caravan to Spain and store it there have decided it may be better if we remove the oven and fit a small fridge freezer as this would be of more use.
Any thoughts? tips or advice welcome as not sure about the weight etc
Thanks in advance

If your thinking a household fridge/freezer then don't forget they need to stand for a good few hours before you can switch them on. They dont like being shook up and then plugged in.

I delivered one to a new build house, they were moving in the same day. Builders put the fridge freezer in the garage to settle and the women thought she was being helpful and unwrapped it and plugged it in. Seems it made a funny noise for a while and then went silent and stopped working. One dead fridge freezer.

How big is the oven? All the gas pipes will need capping off or rerouting if you use a 3 way fridge.

Do you pre-pack the food or but after arrival? I dont think you can run 2 fridges on the towbar wiring so one one have any power.

It would be a better idea to remove caravan 3way fridge & install household compressor fridge in it's place. That way you have vents to the outside to dissipate the heat from back of fridge. Particularly important in hot weather. Putting in place of oven is bad idea as you presumably have hob above it & no ventilation behind it.

If you mean you intend to leave caravan in Spain & have it placed on nearby site then what most do though is leave 3way fridge where it is & have a household fridge freezer in awning. If you intend touring around & you want an extra fridge just take small table top compressor fridge £70 from Argos.
