DAMP, then DAMP and then more DAMP.

After you have checked for DAMP check again for DAMP.

Then check everything works and have they ever had it serviced.

If you are getting it from a dealer, you should get a full service report and a full damp check report, this should have pictorial diagrams of all 4 sides and roof of the caravan with lots of % numbers on all over, they should all be below 15%, higher numbers may need further investigation.

Example, with my new caravan at first service it had 30% damp around the large rooflight, it had to be replaced and also the roof boarding, all done under warranty.

Have you got water and waste water containers? the solar panel comes later when you caravan off grid (no electric) just use gas and 12v so the panel keeps the battery charged up. We are in the Camping and Caravanning Club and use their Temporary Holiday Sites, they run from 1 - 8 weeks in some good locations around the country. They are cheap around £8 - £10 a night, so more outings with longer stays.

The two most important things are DAMP and GAS.
If you are buying from a dealer get a damp reading certificate and if possible witness the readings yourself. Damp will kill a caravan.
Ensure the dealer does a thorough gas service, a faulty gas appliance will kill you
