We're picking up our first new to us caravan this week and I'm just wondering about using electricity in the awning. We have an external 230v socket. Can we use a regular extension lead from this socket, particularly if my son is going to use the bedroom annex for small heater / chargers etc. We do have a camping hook up with RCD. Is this a better option?
Yes you can use a regular extension cable but if you are going to use a heater then make sure you have the correct rating cable for the appliance. Any electrical outlet should be able to provide advice on this. However, for general lighting purposes a normal 1.5mm. earthed cable is satisfactory but as a word of caution, the area inside an awning will create damp especially during the night.
