In the early years of our caravanning days (45 years ago) we never covered our caravan - I don't think people did.
We then drifted off to tents, back to a caravan or three, never covering. Went to a FC which we covered with a tarp, now we have returned to a caravan which came with a caravan winter cover.
To cover in the winter - or not cover that is the question?
Last caravan we had we used a cover and it took the paint off from the front of the roof so with the new caravan we now have we don't use one. Don't want to take that chance again but as long as your van doesn't leak I wouldn't bother as they are made to be in all weather's.
Yes, always ... AND ... we store indoors!
In a multi van store with a concrete floor ...
Some dust from collecting/depositing of other vans through the year.
Not a mark in site ... but, then, there shouldn't be as there is virtually no ambient air movement.
Takes five mins to cover/uncover ... to reveal the van exactly as it was when you dropped it off ...
IMHO that's worth it.
No. Incidentally the van next to us had a generic cover on it last year. I went to our van mid January to do a job. The cover had moved in the wind and knocked the rear running light lenses off from both sides.
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.

No, never have. Caravans are designed to be outdoors. 😀👍
Really? Perhaps you ought to tell Bailey designers who put a join across the roof of Alu-Tec models and cover it only with a thin strip of plastic attached with mastic.
If it were a house it would never pass building regs.
We cover our van and I'm glad we do. When the roof join went in the first winter, it was only the cover that kept all the inside from being ruined.
Our van is a 2005, in fab condition. It sits next to the house, but has a huge beech tree and hedge next to it.
Its been standing out since Spring when we got it, there was a green 'haze' appearing on the roof from the trees, so the van has been washed and polished - after considering comments we have decided to put the cover on to protect from the trees and hedge.
No more green film over the winter!
The cover has two zips so the van can be inspected during the winter.
I think we have made the right call..........for us.
We have always covered our van for the winter, it gets a good clean and wax, dried off thoroughly and then covered with a good quality cover, we always ensure the cover is nice and secure with no flappy bits anywhere and hey presto start of the season we uncover a lovely clean and dry van, ready to go.
It works for us and we wouldn’t do it any other way.
if you have trees above you,a cover is good, especially near evergreens,i e pines, the resin sticks for ever.i have clear sky and a solar panel on the roof, therefore in open air the panel keeps the battery fully charged.
