There was a few parts that just lifted off, not properly bonded to the van.

George, what you are doing is unauthorised repairs to a brand new van which could invalidate your warranty. Bite the bullet, drive the forty miles and get your money back would be what I would be doing. My dealer is 80 miles away and he has had my van back a couple of times for warranty issues all of which were picked up on the first service. I find having a good rapport with the dealer works a treat, mine bumped me up a waiting list by a few months so I wouldn't miss our winter getaway.
My first reaction would be that the dealer comes and sorts it out. But think on, if they come to your house they don’t have all their workshop kit with them so they cant fix what is proberly a manufacturing fault. My advice take it back, get the dealer to sort it out and ask for compensation for your time and fuel costs. At this stage keep the dealer on your side. You may need to escalate your complaint within 30 days. Another example of poor workmanship from U.K. manufacturers.
Good luck.

Baileys leak. Yes some do.
Bailey have Damp issues. Yes they do.
So crossed of your list.
You may as well cross every van made in the UK off your list.
They have all had models that have leaked from new at sometime or another and have damp.
Its the same with pretty much everything, from TV's to cars, you can always be unlucky and buy a duff one.
Heck I remember a few years ago there was a spate of Ferraris that would spontaneously catch fire around the back wheel arches.

Unlike caravans the issue with other goods is resolved a lot quicker.. If I remember right we had to wait 3 or 4 months for the repairs to be carried out on our damp Elddis Xplore
A few years ago we took our new Swift caravan backwards and forwards to the dealer we bought it from. It had one fault after another. We gave up after twelve months and fought to have it replaced,
evenually it was. Some faults never disappear so definitely keep an eye on it. Your new caravan should be as dry as a bone.
PS We love Swift caravans and have had two brand new ones since and no problems. Our present one is three years old and we have been happy with it since day one.

I have been looking for a used van for a few months now. I read the reports on this site about Bailey vans and water leaks, so we crossed Bailey off our list. Coachman is on my list.
Who was the dealer?
Fortyfoot
If you have read reports on Bailey you must have read them on others too, the problem is the panels not the factory almost all panels come from the same supplier regardless of the brand of van. The reason you see more reports about Bailey is because they are the largest independent producer in the uk I have had 3 Baileys and I have been very happy and had no problems with any of them, however 2 swifts both with leaks and 2 compass with the same problems. So if I were you I would put Bailey back on your list but whatever you decide to buy have a pro inspect it first.

All, some asked for an update. Thanks all for the kind advice to keep me calm. I asked my caravan storage people if they would help, they have a service garage and wash bay. I used the wash bay to hose the front windows and sky light.
Couldn’t see any water. The chap that does the body repairs knew what he was doing, checked all the seals. He said the sky light was sealed with silicone, he would re-seal that at service, and the two front smaller window seals were a bit suspect. He could lift the edges which are supposed to be glued down. He showed me how to give them a quick re-seal. I’ve put a small bead on black sealant around the edge. So it’s a mystery why I had a puddle of water, we couldn’t repeat it with a hose, but you can’t simulate a one-hour trip with high winds and heavy rain, van buffeting about. Still a theory some water would get in the air vents with the high winds.
Frustrating we never found the problem but also relieved I don’t seem to have a major issue. I’ll be getting it serviced at the storage centre, they have an approved Bailey engineer. Overall I’m reasonably happy,,, and ecstatic, the storage facility can service my van for £175. I don’t even need to take it out, just hand in my keys. The body repairs expert said to me, to put it down for a water test at service and he would check it all over again and redo my roof light
HAPPY DAYS ;-)
Hopefully it was just a teething problem that now seems to be resolved. You can put it all behind you now and get to enjoy many happy trips away
