We have just bought a caravan which is in very good condition although its about 20 years old. It is a Vanroyce.Anyway I was wondering if anyone can reccomend something to get the black off of the roof.It is quite bad and I dont think its been cleaned for a while.Thankyou in anticipation.
It's most likely built up algea over the years and the best appropriate cleaner is Fenwick's Caravan cleaner. It's safe to use and won't damage the waterproof sealant but when you dilute it (one capful to a bucket) you may need to increase the quantity to 2 cap fulls depending on how severe the algea is.
There are some video's on 'Youtube' for guidance.
mine goes pretty black every winter.. it comes off easy enough with a bit of scrubbing but the problem is getting at it.. to be honest i dont much go for these "magic" cleaning preparations.. for me nothing much beats the good old fashioned warm soapy water and "elbow grease".. :)
yesterday i cleaned my caravan roof and a couple of trucks.. i took the trouble to get my pressure washer out of storage where its sat for the last five years or so.. just to help with my caravan roof.. it did help.. but my roof is a one piece fiberglass job with no joining seam to worry about..
