We’re looking at buying a 2011 Bailey caravan and have read issues about the wet locker. I don’t know if it’s because only the people with the problems post, but are there any Bailey owners from this age that have not had an issue with water getting in the lockers?
If you go and look at the van, when you open the front lockers on Baileys of that age they should have a black plastic tray in, these are normally held in with 4 or possibly 6 screws, ask if you can remove the trays. If under the trays there is wood then you can then damp test it if it has a fibre glass sheet over it then it’s potentially had water ingress problems in the past. Also check the underside of the front and rear corners. The fibreglass over the top of the front lockers can hide the fact and the water ingress rots the structural timber and the ply then in the underside.
I had a Wet Locker under the bed in my Series 7 Burgundy and when the door seal went it resulted in the ingress of water trickling down the nine screws holding it to the floor and rotting it. I removed the tray, repaired the door and floor, the tray was binned.
