Has anyone with a Swift Challenger 530 taken down their roof lights for cleaning as descibed in the manual
. We have just bought a 2016 van and it looks like a lot of dirt/dust has got between the two layers of plastic. If you have cleaned yours, what would you recommend. Many thanks in advance.
If they are like the roof lights in the Xplore 304 my only suggestion is to ignore the dirt.
I have tried multiple times to find a screw driver that can get the two pieces of plastic apart, and ive yet to find one.
If you really cant ignore the dirt any longer, you could try what I did the first time. I took them down and then, sprayed the inside with cleaner (I used Fennwicks) and then using a hose I sprayed the cleaner out.
I didn't get it back to pristine, but it was much better than it was. Unfortunately it didn't last long though, a couple of months and it was back to thick dust/dirt.
Its a terrible design, same with the whip aerial, they released loads of videos explaining that its not the aerials fault, its your TV or poor signal etc.
Lo and behold the next years model changed the roof light and the aerial...............I wonder why.
We have the 530 and cleaned them several times. To take them apart you need to undo the four torx screws holding the two parts together. Just clean with warm soapy water.

The problem with mine is that I need a torx screwdriver that has a very thin shank as the hole to access the screw is about four inches from the actual screw and only slightly larger diameter.
They are easy enough to remove and clean, I do mine just once a year, it doesn't take too long to do those on my van. Check this link for photo's and info on the task; although the post shows the slightly earlier domed rooflights, the principle is pretty much the same.

Shaggy, you can get long reach torx sets easily enough, my budget set does the job, example here at Amazon.
Did mine for the first time this year. Five years worth of muck and dirt cleaned out and it really does make a difference to the light coming into the caravan. Well worth the hour or so it took me.
