Mine's gone up to £660 per year. What with insurance and servicing costs, plus site fees (ok, we like fully serviced pitches) I worked out it's a bit cheaper to stay in a modern mobile home.

Looking at those prices I’m glad we store in France at the same place as Kelper - and keep our “home van” in the drive.

There seems to be a north/south divide here. Or is it just that there are more storage facilities north of Watford, so more competition?

There may be some truth in that Joanna. In my area of Kent at least two storage facilities have closed recently. The one I'm on has expanded its capacity and is slowly filling up. I'm seriously considering selling my van and using mobile homes for my holidays as it seems a cheaper option. We don't use the van often enough now to justify the cost.

AirBNB may be the way forward as cheaper than owning a caravan and many allow pets.
