Being happly married for over 50 years my wife bless her and myself are like everyone else self isolating.
As I am no longer going to my regular daily visits to the gym,to our over 50s local men only social club along with my charity work. We are enjoying each others company 24/7 .
I now find that bless her she loves daytime TV all day and every day constantly blaring away Bargain Hunt,Judge Judy, Doctors etc.
Back to the subject Damp. I can now check the van on our drive without using a damp meter by observation alone.

sit in van all day and look at walls, check inside lockers etc. every few hours. make a cup of tea, read books and newspapers, think.

haha that made me laugh, i wish my van was on the drive, I nearly brought it home from storage last week...... i just wish i had,It's been locked away since november last year so i could of cleaned it within an inch of its life
I brought mine home to clean and wax it, the day I was going to take it back to storage they confined us to stay at home anď the storage closed indefinitely, now I look out of the window and it's there and we cant take it anýwhere, I don't know what's worse, having it home knowing we cant use it or in storage out of sight
Ours lives in the communal car park next to our row of 6 houses, luckily enough room for it, so I could escape OH who now has a new dvd player as well as his tv watching whilst I read. We would normally be away in this weather, sigh...
Our caravan is on the drive and I'm getting it ready for the Easter holidays.
We're having pictures of the seaside on the front windows and pictures of the dales on the rear ones.
I wonder how many Caravans are being put to good use during this Corona virus Pandemic? Those lucky enough to be able to use their EHU and store either at home or on the drive of a friend or relative could find them very useful either for self isolating, being close to a vulnerable family member who needs their care or support, or even for the families of key workers who may need somewhere to sleep during the day in peace and quiet away from a busy household with children off school. The latter l have actually done myself throughout school holidays whilst working full time night duty at our local hospital, it was the only way to get a decent long sleep ready for the next shift!
Nationally, there is a demand for single accommodation for key workers who have had to relocate area, or have been put in the situation that they cannot live at home with a family member who is in the vulnerable self isolating group, many cannot afford the high accommodation charges or find a private rental room at reasonable cost whilst still being the bread winner and main provider for a young family at home. I wonder how many caravan owners, dealerships, or similar establishments should volunteer to use their caravan to help out such a person during time of crisis?
I am fully aware of insurance, council restrictions and house covenants regarding caravans, but what got me thinking was the fact that back in the early 1990s, l traded in my old Avondale Adonis caravan to a local dealership, it was a very basic caravan, and had been repaired after an accident, so did not sell. The following year, there was some type of crisis going on in mainland Europe, l cannot remember exactly what it was, and people were trying to live in a tent city during a freezing cold winter. The Caravan Club put out a call for Donated caravans, and a lot of dealerships and private individuals answered that call and used to opportunity to have a clear out of any slow moving stock from their yards, and my old Avondale was one of them to get donated to the cause.
Just a thought, but l was curious to find out if this may happen again and Caravans get used to aid the Corona virus situation in a positive way, as a few others have already said that they are doing above.

Mines down side of the house, under the car port.
Emptied it of all food etc couple of days back so. just waiting for the all clear to go away again.
Van was a year old yesterday and service was cancelled last week that will another story lol.
But Bailey have accepted late annual servicing, or so they say.
Following on from Romany Girl's post why cant caravans be situated in hospital car parks for essential staff to use. Would also save on a lot of travelling. There was a photo from New Zealand where they had lined up 100 motorhomes in an arena which were to be used to self isolate those travellers coming in from abroad, so the idea is there.
And like she said there must be many dealerships with caravans sitting on their premises that could be used for that purpose.

I saw a picture yesterday of motorhomes which have been lent to a hospital in the north (sorry, can't remember which one) for staff to use as accommodation.
------------- Freedom is a light caravan and an open road.
Hospitals no longer have the large staff Accommodation blocks such as onsite Nurses Homes like was normal practice before the major changes to Nurse training when the Project 2000 scheme was launched and student nurse education moved into being University based. Our own Derbyshire Royal infirmary 12 floor Tower block Nurse’s home could house almost 200 student Nurses, with some of them remaining living there for various reasons post Registration.
The advantage was that Staff were always close at hand and could be called on duty very quickly in times of crisis, but with most Nurses homes now either demolished as our Tower block eventually was, there is no longer that option.
I’m wondering if this idea of donated or loaned caravans would be something that the two large Clubs, along with their site network would be able to take further?
Again thinking back to when my Avondale was Donated via the dealership, I’m fairly sure that it was the Caravan Club who were involved and pioneered the idea back then?
Using the closed down Club sites exclusively for hospital staff accommodation, and by providing Water and Electricity, and support for our hard working Hospital staff, it would be a marvellous gesture on their part, and go a long way towards Promoting the Hobby of Caravanning and Motor homing and Camping in general in the future.
It would be good if someone from the senior Management teams of either of the two main Clubs could maybe explore this idea further and give our hard working Medical and Emergency teams a helping hand during this time of Crisis.
