Hi, I am very new to camping. Just had our first outing, on putting our tent up we noticed that some of the steel poles shock elastics were broken. Would like to repair them if it’s something we can do ourselves. Our tent was bought second hand and I love it. Outwell Arkansas 5, plenty of space for my husband myself and 2 dogs. Been very well looked after. So I would like to sort the couple elastics out. I don’t know the correct terminology so you will have to excuse me if I say the wrong wording. I’ve searched on utube, but have not seen a video with the connections. So we I’m asking the more experienced of you to see if anyone can advice me. . Many thanks Sharon

Personally, I'd ditch the elastic, and invest in some pole springs.

The description in the link below gives a size guide, depending on what diameter your poles are, so you'll need to check that before buying.

Once you know which size you need (small, medium, or large), shop around for best price.
I'm pretty certain a got the same ones as in the link below (Kampa brand), and almost certainly from the same seller too! (It was a few years ago, so can't be certain).
They worked a treat, and were all still in place and in good nick 5 years later, when we sold that particular tent.

This is the sort of thing...

And a video showing how to fit them...

EDIT:
My original link didn't work, so here's another...

For size reference:
Small: Suitable for 16 - 18mm diameter poles
Medium: Suitable for 20 - 24mm diameter poles
Large: Suitable for 26 - 28mm diameter poles

Mucker thanks, some useful info there, One of my pole elastics on a very handy Montana 6 canopy has also come adrift, so v.helpful links

Rashinion, great tent, reminds me of my much loved Yellowstone falls,

If you preferred, I think you could just pull the elastic through (hooked onto an unbent wire coat hanger or similar) then attach to and insert butterfly clip.

This site sells the clips separately (does say for elastic or springs), and explains the clip and elastic sizes, but beware it comes up as Not Secure, although useful info on it.

Packet of clips from Muckers Outdooraction link seems a better bet, and remove springs, if you prefer to rethread elastic.

(Mucker also have a little red Karsten 260 - been lurking on Hankakampas? thread for years )
