I've brought the green toilet fluid for the 1st time. What I want to know is can I use it for the flush as well, my friend does but it says not to on the instructions?
You will probably find that different makes can be used in different ways. The Elsan green which we have used in the past can be used in both top and bottom but I would go with what the bottle says. If it says not to use it in the top, then don’t.
I use Elsan SuperKem in both tanks (as instructions suggest), NEVER had black bits. Only time I had black algae was when I made mistake of using the Thetford pink that came with van when purchased, soon gave up on that and got the Elsan, never a problem since.
Never come across a fluid that instructs NOT to use in flush tank, but probably wise to follow instruction. Not much harm from using plain water in flush, but definite advantages to using correct fluids IMHO.
I was given a part used bottle of green toilet fluid by a friend because they gave up caravanning and thinking that it could be used in both flush and waste tanks I decided to read the instruction label. Apparently it said not to be used in the top flush tank so my advice is to read the instructions first because that's exactly what they are there for. It will clearly state if the product can be used in the top flush tank or not.
