Hi All
We have moved to a seasonal pitch and now the camping season as finished and there's not tents about or bits of food we have had a mouse in the awning what's the best spray I can use
Thanks
When you say a mouse, do you mean you have spotted a mouse, or that you have signs of a mouse infestation (i.e, vast quantities of droppings, chewed items, nests)?
If simply spotting a mouse (which is almost certainly a field or wood mouse) running through, then in most cases, if you do not make it attractive to them there will not be any incentive for them to come back - i.e, keep the area clear (mice hate wide spaces) and do not leave any food dropped or about.
Moth balls (the old fashioned camphor type) are supposed to be a good deterrent, so you can leave them along the edges.
If you have signs of an infestation, then the first thing to do is see what they are being attracted by - mice will only go where there is food, shelter and safety; remove this and there is nothing to attract them
I do not know of any spray deterrent, and while there are all sorts of poisons, bear in mind that (a) they are not selective so could end up poisoning other animals, and (b) to get them to eat the poison, the poison itself has to attract the mice first - so by putting poison down for a single mouse, you may end up causing an infestation.
Far better to remove anything that is attracting them so they do not spend time loitering nearby.
get some car body steel mesh from halfords, then go under the caravan armed with a staple gun and attach the mesh to any place you see that has a hole going through the floor.
then under each point that the caravan touches the ground place something such as a plant pot saucer and put some jeyes fluid n it to make a moat they cant/wont cross, yes it does smell rather strong at first! but it does stop the mice from making a pee trail that they follow to get inside the caravan.
we had an infestation at our last storage yard where a lot of damage was done and this was the only thing that stopped them in the end.
Try an Ultrasonic Pest Repeller, they work on mains or there are battery and solar versions.
We use a mains version here in the country and since I've not seen hide or hair of a mouse in years, I assume it works. (also deters spiders and ants but does not worry my dogs))
Try Amazon and search ultrasonic mouse repellent outdoor,

Mouse trap.
Just keep it inside the awning: our outside trap (for rats, during lockdown when the local takeaway food sources were closed) caught some birds, sadly. Quick clean death for the poor wee field mouse (which is probably what it is).
Thanks for the quick response we have seen a few droppings and it as chewed a bit of the awning carpet where the dogs dish was I have removed the carpet and sprayed the area with jays fliud we are up again this weekend
Following mice camping in our van over winter a few years ago, we used a combination of Ultrasonic Mouse Repellers inside the van and Jeyes fluid on the outside (jockey wheel, wheels, corner steadies if left down). We also blocked any gaps underneath the van or in the lockers (NOT those you have to leave uncovered for ventilation)with stainless steel wire wool (as in pan scrubs). However if it's just the awning that's affected, make sure there's no trace of food left (human or animal) and remove groundsheet/carpet, dog food bowls, chairs etc from the awning when you leave - basically empty it!
If I empty the awning ever time I leave that would be pointless me having a awning up as we have freezer in there and rattan furniture and no where to store it but I have removed the carpet it had ripped and sprayed it with mouse repellent and jays fliud in and out
But thanks

There is no rodenticide authorised for use on field/wood mice. The only species that rodenticide can be used on are brown and black rats and house mice. There is no scientific evidence that the ultrasonic repelling devices work, but if they make you feel better then carry on and buy some.

Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
