Before I do something I'm going to regret, just up graded from folding camper to a van, and on the off side of the caravan is a round lockable hole   what looks like petrol lock. water inlet for fully serviced pitch I think,   How do you undo it ? Put key in unlock but won't come out

Just keep fiddling with it, if it's as you say unlocked it should turn like a petrol cap and come off.

These are fitted to motorhomes for filling internal tank not for service pitch, and if not used regularly the lock seizes up and wont turn .Try a small squib of WD40 in the lock.

Our water inlet for the whale pump on our MH is a rectangular cover that slides up, its not locked.
MHs have a symbol of a blue tap beside the locked water inlet for filling from a tap or water hog, to stop accidentally putting diesel in.
Wrong key can get stuck, weve found: WD40 & careful wiggling.
