We are going to Lydd in Kent next week and I was wondering if those Lorries were still clogging up the M20 motorway?
Should we choose another route?

It depends if there is any delay at Dover port. Then trucks are stacked on M20. As stated you need to check the news when you go.

I do a fair number of longer distance journeys both with and without the caravan, and TBH these days I find it impossible to predict in advance, or at least much in advance, what ANY road is going to be like, so planning a journey can only be taken so far!

Things like planned road works can be taken into account, but there are endless 'emergency repairs' that pop up from nowhere!

'Operation Brock', the stacking of HGVs/contraflows on M20 seems to kick in at short notice, so can only really be monitored close to travel day.

And of course unpredictable 'accidents/incidents' seem to be commonplace and these days often result in complete road closures at no notice. Usually find a good Sat Nav with live data feed is best way of coping with that. AA/RAC web sites give some insight into traffic flows, and Highways web site even if a little clunky does give info: https://www.trafficengland.com/
