I always try to clean the awning carpet once a year, sometimes I have to do it more often. It seems to me there are at least three ways, bucket of water and scrubbing brush, hosepipe and scrubbing brush, powerwasher and no scrubbing brush. My wife prefers me to use the hosepipe and scrubbing brush. What do others do? Also what cleaning agent if any is used. Interested to seen the replies.
Usually throw it over the clothes line and pressure wash it.
Last time I put it in the washing machine with detergent (cool wash!), it obviously hadn't been as dry as I thought when packing away (it'd been soaking wet during a very wet stay!), and was very wiffy! Didn't actually clean the mud staining any better than pressure washer does, but it smelt a whole lot better!

We have a 'rough' carpet for the footprint - one of those grey weave things, and one of the posher, decorative ones on top. I find its the worm casts that bugger them them up and ingrain them with soil. The first one keeps the top one relatively clean underneath. Its not often i wash the grey one though if im honest. I just hard-brush the thick off from time to time.
