If the old taps have no micro switches or connecting leads, then you must have a pressurised system and no electrical connection needed.

How does that work? The bathroom taps have micro switches and wires.

Do the taps work. Try each one separately to see which ones switch the pump on and off.

Very often an older caravan has microswitches fitted when new but one fails. The owner then solves the problem by fitting a pressure switch and disconnecting the microswitch circuits.

The pressure switch is usually fitted close to the pump connection point as the microswitches would all be wired in parallel by a pair wires going to each one.

When a tap is opened the pressure in the system drops switching on the pump. When the tap is closed the pressure increases switching off the pump.

Usually a damper, basically a tube with a spring in it, is used to damp the supply and stop the pump repeatedly switching on and off at low flow.

The pressure switch system is much better than the old microswitches.

Thanks advice. Fitted new taps to both Kitchen and Bathroom, minus switches and the system works a treat. Even the water heater fired up first time

Both pressurised and micro-switched systems have their advantages and disadvantages. The main disadvantage with a pressurised system is that if any leaks occur, such as a hose connection coming loose, the system being pressurised the whole time will push the pipe off and empty the water container into a locker. Worse of course if this happens when the owner is away from the caravan at the time. This can be avoided though if a switch is fitted so that the pump can be switched off when the water isn't needed, but you do have to remember to switch it off each time. This is not a problem with a microswitch system, and you don't have to remember to keep switching it off after each use.

Best Regards,
Colin
