We are away until Wednesday 13th December
The weather has been challenging with heavy rain and strong winds unfortunately the weather was so bad when we arrived we parked under a tall tree for quickness . I found it quite scary at times and wondered how the caravan would survive if a branch had broken off and landed on the roof . We always avoid trees if possible .
we never park under trees or within the likely area should something be blown off, a caravan roof would not take any decent sized branches falling on it, never mind the constant "rain" once the skies have stopped.

You would have struggled with the C&CC site we were on in September then, as it was literally in a forest. I don't think there was a single pitch that wasn't under several trees. It was great at the time as it was a really hot week and the shade kept the caravan lovely and cool.
Must admit I don't know how the caravan would have coped if a branch landed on it.
Branches generally fall off only if they’re dead, and generally small (going by the 4 mature trees near my house). They don’t dunt my car roof, but a caravan roof might be thinner?
I’d have thought the site would close if there were risks associated with flooding or winds above a certain speed (insurance cover). I’d also have thought that removing dead wood from trees around pitches was an annual maintenance job, because the site wouldn’t want a branch landing on someone’s head - more serious than the caravan roof.
When I was a tenter, I worried about tree saps on the tent; and now, I worry about branches breaking off.
Also, a pine cone falling onto the roof makes a very loud bang and will wake me up in the middle of the night!

I always try to avoid trees. In high winds, its not always just small dead stuff that can break off. And anything half decent would go straight through any skylight, no problem. And definitely dent the roof badly. Branches aside; theres bird muck, sap, fruit/seeds, a constant drip-drip-drip if its wet. Stay away!
There are a few reasons above as to why people don't pitch under trees but the the most common reason I've heard from caravanners and motorhomers alike is that they can't get a decent reception on their TV.

Not something that would bother me, as we don't go on holiday to watch telly! We have one suitable but never take it with us on the principle that we probably watch far too much at home so it's good to get away from it for a while. If there is anything on while we are away that we really don't want to miss, we record it or watch it on catch-up when we get back.

Very much likewise Colin. The last three times we've been out in the caravan we left the portable TV at home and can honestly say we didn't miss it one bit. We played a few CD's at night instead which was more relaxing and enjoyable.

Don't any of you watch sport? OH wouldn't go away without the TV and satellite equipment. And no, we don't watch TV all the time.
we take our tv with us but the only time it gets watched is for the news and the weather, to check what we had planed for the next day! no way would we decide not to go any where if there was no signal. the radio is on more than the tv ever is
Never seen caravans damaged by falling branches but I was on a campsite where two visitors had parked their cars under a very old oak tree which lost a large branch. Both cars were written off.

No, we don't miss TV either when we are away. We have quite a bit of music on USB sticks which our caravan radio can play, so we tend to listen to those. The radio can play CDs too but they take up a lot more room than USB sticks. You can easily make up USB sticks yourself, much as we used to make up "mix-tapes" in the days of cassettes, so reading a good book while listening to some relaxing music is far more enjoyable than watching TV on holiday.
