Hi,

I’ve recently ended up with an old caravan after my dad passed away.

I don’t have a clue where to start in terms of determining a value to see if it’s worth selling or whether I need to find a way to scrap it.

Does anyone have any advice on how to approach a valuation and what sort of things I need to check?

I have keys. It seems clean and good condition internally. No signs of water ingress. External needs a good clean. There is some cosmetic damaged to rear bumper. Other than that it shows some signs of age/wear around the logos.

*I’ll upload the few terrible photos that I have for now. I had more but think I only saved the ones where I was trying to identify the make/model.

I'd start with giving it a blooming good clean and a check for any obviously glaring problems. Even then it will need a full service a probably new tyres.
Take a load of photos of it in a clean condition and put it up on eBay or similar. Make sure you give an honest description of it and a starting bid around £1000.
If no bidders you can always relist it and lower the starting price.

That is an imported caravan and the quality on that model is normally very high so there should not be any damp. Give it a good clean and have it serviced which will include a damp check. You may get up to £2000 for it depending on age.

I agree with above post. A small cheap van might appeal to a first timer.
It will need a good check over and new tyres. A mobile engineer could check it over and give an honest appraisal whether to sell or scrap.
Might be worth the cost.

I’ll try and get it a good scrub outside and find someone to check it over as it sounds like it may well be worth the time/effort.

There is definitely a market for older caravans. I sold my last one that I bought for £500, kept for 4 years and sold for a small profit. I then bought the one I have now for £1,100. I have now had it 7 years and it is still going strong at 32 years old. They were built to last in those days.
