Are there any members on Teesside that would recommend a company to service our single axle caravan? It's a Sterling Eccles.
We used to get it serviced at the now-defunct Teesside Caravans (it is where it is stored, so was convenient).
We're probably looking for a mobile servicer that could service on the plot in the storage compound (suspect Teesside Caravans Storage don't officially allow it).
All recommendations (or warnings of who not to use), welcome.
Failing any personal recommendations, places to look are the trade associations, Approved Workshop Scheme (AWS), and Mobile Caravan Engineers Association (MCEA). The AWS engineers have customers ratings and comments, so you can have some insight into their worth.
I know from my own mobile engineers I've used (Hertfordshire, so well off your locale!), they are sometimes less than enthusiastic (and comment on their experiences!) about working on vans in storage bays, so some may decline! - Lack of working space, poor ground surfaces (for jacking up and working under van), no space to park their vans next to the job giving easy access to necessary tools/kit etc.
Luckily my storage site has a well equipped (water and EHU) sizeable level concrete floored service bay, which they love! My storage yard, because it has a dedicated service bay available, absolutely bans any work on the van in the storage bay! As a full habitation and chassis service takes around 4 hours, if your storage site has any supervision and/or security traffic monitoring, having van serviced in the storage bay may not go unnoticed!
Agree completely that working on a 'van parked in a (quite tight) parking spot isn't ideal. There are tales I have heard of companies doing it there in the past though.
I am not sure if somewhere like a local CL or campsite might allow it. I'll look into that too.
Unfortunately I haven't anywhere at home where it could be done (slopey driveway).

Thanks, Monty15.

Likewise, no space at home to fit the van, so my storage yard with service bay is highly valued to me!
It's a pain, and it'll cost you, but taking the van to a service engineer with their own premises is an option!
Never tried to put a van on a camp site to get it worked on, so can't advise, but maybe worth a try. Certainly have seen broken down vans worked on by service engineers whilst on regular pitch, even seen it on the campsite attached to my storage yard, so it's possible it seems. Question is, time you've used fuel to tow van to site, paid 'something' presumably regular pitch fee for use of the site, are you really any better off than taking it to a service engineers premises?
The Teesside caravan storage site on Earlsway (which I think is just up the road from you) allows servicing on in their storage so maybe your storage site will allow it.
When may caravan was there it was serviced and I also had a motormover fitted on another occasion. Might have been Teesside Caravan Medic I used for the service - he was there servicing a different caravan when I booked him.
I have heard of Teesside Caravan Medic but don't know anyone that has used them. I might just give them a buzz and see if they've serviced any vans in Teesside Caravan's compound.
If you want someone with a workshop who’ll do a good job Mark at MTCaravans at Newton Aycliffe is very good and reasonably priced. I’ve used mobile workshops at home before with mixed results. The best one has retired.
