Hi, just recently purchased an xplore 495, are there any individual switches for the 2 main ceiling lights? The spot lights and the ceiling light at the front of the van have switches but the other 2 seem to turn off at the main panel which turns all other lights off. So far we are just taking the bulbs out. Any thoughts?

Cheers

I am probably being silly here but are you sure there is no switch carefully hidden on the light fitting?
I can't remember the manufacturer but I once had a light where the switch was so small that you could barely see it.

Morning, thanks for your reply. Had another good look and unfortunately not. No great issue as I'm sure I can replace the units with onea with switches 👍.

Cheers

There should be switches on all three ceiling lights so they can be operated independently. The switches on ours can be temperamental and need to be operated carefully.

As the switches are sealed and an integral part of the light, I can only guess that somebody has replaced the lights when the switches failed completely.

in elldis caravans, the light switches are also controlled by a switch totally separated from everything else, its a narrow switch approx 1 inch x 2 inches long and black in colour, if its not in the on position then you wont get any lighting (obivously!) now you can still operate the lights from the on/off button on the actual light but unless that switch is in the on position nothing will happen, from taking a look at stock pictures of your van i think its the switch near your fire, about shoulder height and around to the side of the fire wall

Hi Marg6,

Thanks for your reply. We wondered what that black switch was for as it doesn't apparently operate anything 😂. Some investigation needed on that I think! Other than that everything else is working fine.

Many thanks,

Chiz

The light master switch is part of the main control panel, next to the door.

There should be two black switches on the sidewall next to the fire. The upper one is the water heater, the lower one the space heater, both operating on 240v. When connected to the mains do not switch the water heater on until you have filled the tank. To operate the space heater you need to switch on and then select the wattage output on the Truma dial.
