Been down to the storage to carry out a few jobs.

1) New Smoke and CO2 detectors and moved the locations of them.

2) Added a fire blanket (didn’t get around to putting the fire extinguisher in).

3) Attach new trailer registration plate to rear of caravan, doesn’t look as bad as I thought it would.

4) New leisure battery fitted Yuasa 100 ah class b with breather hose), the old one packed up in France a couple of years ago and the only battery available was a 95 ah car battery, didn’t notice any difference so wasn’t in any great rush to replace it.

5) New awning light, with my van being a Swift, I suffered with the growing black mould in the light and each LED slowly losing the will to live, we went to Devon in May and the awning light only had 1 LED working!!

Anyone wanting to change theirs, it’s not a bad job, hardest part was taking the old sikaflex off, I was shocked when I got the old light off and checked it out, on the top of the awning light, there was no seal between the body and the clear plastic, it’s no wonder so many Swift awning lights need replacing, once I had replaced the old light, I went all around the outside of the new light with sikaflex to make sure the new light lasts a lot longer than the old one!

I got mine off eBay, if you google “ Awning Light Swift 1419565”.

That is the correct light for mine.

It’s a badly engineered product because the new one looks like it’s exactly the same as the old one, my advice to anyone with this light is to get some sikaflex and go around the whole light with it, otherwise I suspect it’s only a matter of time before the water will get into the light.

Phil at Lost Weekends did a YT video on how to replace it, mine was almost as easy to do as his, the only other thing I had to do was to carefully pry out the Swift command panel (2018 Swift Challenger) as the wiring wasn’t coming out due to being wrapped around an alde control box in the caravan wall.
