hello all

Anyone ever had a bottle of pink loo liquid burst and stain the floor of their van ? If so were you able to get it out and if so what did you use.

Our van is stored at the campsite we use. When we left in March we were rushing and accidently left the pink flush fluid in the toilet down by the bowl we had lifted the carpet as we preferred the lino.
Our van was serviced in April by a mobile servicer whom the campsite recommends and was fine when this was done.

We werent back until late September due to other holidays we had.

When we went in everything looked ok until we went into the bathroom and found a large pink stain on the lino. We can see that the pink flush bottle had burst think it must have been the heat

So looking for thoughts on how to get the stain out or if anyone has managed to get it out what did they use

Been looking on the internet but lots of different things to try with no guarantee

thanks in advance

Might be easier to replace the Lino, or whatever your floor covering is.

Why not contact the manufacturers. There is normally some contact information somewhere on the bottle.

Not sure it's helpful, but soon after I got my caravan, the Blue Thetford fluid bottle leaked in the cupboard under the bathroom sink - 8 years on, the blue stain is still in the vinyl flooring! Tried many a time to clean it, but still obvious! Not too bothered as normally out of sight.

It did inspire me to look at alternative brands of fluid though, as very unimpressed that a stain was permanent, and found that Elsan fluid dyes fade of their own accord, so been using Elsan ever since. And probably should be grateful, not had spills as such, but splashes on hands and clothes, all washed away.

As to 'Pink' fluid in general, many of us regard it as the Devil's brew! Certainly some brands (Thetford for sure!) cause black algal growth in the flush tank, this is unsightly in the toilet bowl, and has been known to cause pipe and pump blockages. Many of the 'Blue' bottom tank fluids can be used in dilute quantities in the flush tank as well in place of 'Pink', never heard of them causing algal growth.

Good luck, but be mindful that a damaged floor may be more unsightly than a stained floor, so choose cleaning products carefully!
Contacting the manufacturer of the fluid is probably a wise move, they should know what dye ingredients they use and if it's removable, and maybe by what method.

Google suggests that Elsan might recommend one or all of these, but obviously wait for what they say, with full details :
For Vinyl, Lino, or Plastic Flooring:
• Warm soapy water & washing-up liquid.
• Bicarbonate of soda paste.
• Diluted hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol.
I see that replacing the floor covering is not an option. But if all else fails, another covering on top might be the last resort. It was done in my kitchen several times before I bought the flat, I only found out when I changed the cabinets.
