Have just changed our caravan and had to buy a new awning to go with it. Our last caravan was old and so too was the awning. Decided to go for the pyramid mainly because of the cost. I have worked out where all the poles go except for 1 thing which I'm hoping someone who already has one will be able to clarify for me.
Where do the bracket pole pads fit. On the awning rail or do they actually attach onto the inside of the awning itself near to the awningrail? I have watched the video on towsure and on the pyramid website and it looks as though they fit onto the actual awning. Is this correct?
We too bought a Tuscany awning... Haven't put it up as yet, but I couldn't work out where the bracket pads go as they wouldn't fit our awnign rail. So I emailed them for advice (this was at 19:25hrs on a Sunday) At 20:42hrs the very same Sunday night, Lisa from Pyramid replied . Now thats what I call good customer service!!!!!
They don't attach to the caravan awning rail, but attach to a part of the awning.
When we put it up we thought that there was not enough support poles or support poles across the top, it just dipped
There wasn't the first week we put it up the winds we had in France, snapped two of the poles!! so we had to improvise with some we bought from a caravan shop in France.
The awning is just to to big and needs a lot of poles to support it
The rain also made it dip in lots of places, a real disappointment, wish we had stuck to the Tuscany now instead of selling it.
We bought the Orion we thought for the 6 weeks we were in France on Holiday at one site it would be OK. But no a disappointment.
This year we just have not used it at all, so really think before you buy one of these.
we have recently bought the orion 3m awning, the largest one they do for our new van, we had noproblem putting it up, had strong gale winds lots of rain(first week of july rain!!!!) and no problem survived well, no dip in roof for water to collect,, the only problem we have ,is our last awning for our other van had poles over the front overhang to pull out taught, this one doesnt, and no matter how we did it it sags and flaps and , the pics and demo disc all look taught, , we notice a few vans with the hook over poles to the front of the awning seem to sag, Our orion has only 3 overhang poles and that leaves quite a distance between each pole for taughtness, it has clip on poles inside, across the roof but no more poles extending out over the front canopy
i emailed pyramid and i think they thought we were idiots and never put awnings up before!! told us how to do it,!!! and didt think it was a problem, but that was how we were doing it any way,, any ideas we thought about getting our own poles for the front, going away again in a week and will be used for a few weeks and want to keep the front tight as when it rains it runs off the roof and as you leave awning you have a free shower, not nice down the front of your t shirt!!!!
We have had one for a year now and use it every time we go away. We have been very pleased with it - no problems at all! Very good value for money. We bought ours off their own website and got a pair of awning storm straps (I think thats what they are called!) included in price. Delivered very quickly too.
The bracket pads slide onto a flexible strip that is part of the awning itself. That can be a bit difficult especially on a taller caravan. We have had a pyramid awning for a year now and are very happy with it. It can be a bit tricky to put up in strong winds, but thats the same for most awnings I guess.

we recently purchased an apache verona full awning for our van. its a 880 size and is a purfect fit for our coachman pastishe. we got a very good deal on it and it seems to be very good value for money. the pole set that it came with was of the light weight aluminium. when we went away to cornwall at the start of july the weather was not the best and it rained consistantly. we also had 80 mph winds gusting to 85 mph. the awning stood up to a savage battering for 14 hours then 3 poles gave up and snapped. the awning was strapped and lashed down.
i am not be negative in any way about this awning and still say its a very good job. the ever so nice sales chap at somerset camping and caravaning centre was a star and has arranged to replace the broken poles free of charge. what a star you are matt.
I have a Pyramid Tuscany and after using it 4 times now I have got the hang of putting it up properly. We've had both wet and windy weather and it hasn't leaked or moved even though I was short of pegs and didn't have storm straps on it the first weekend. For anyone using an awning on a hard standing I would recommend getting screw pegs and a cheap cordless drill - they are brilliant!
I'm having the same problem as Ian & Jean though so the aim next week is to get the front overhang stretched out as much as I can. My plan is to bring the van end of the outer roof poles in a bit so that they point out at an angle and hopefully this will be enough to stretch the overhang.

do you mean that you will put the pads higher up and try out at angle, lol we tried that not tto sucessful i will quote what pyramid say to do!!!
Hi Try firstly erecting the awning until all the windows appear level and the poles are fully extended. Then before pegging lower the front legs just slightly and then proceed to tension the front poles out again to the sides of the front panels. Then reraise the front legs again so that the windows are again level. To get the correcty appearance on any awning , all the windows including the sides must appear level Regards Rowland

We have a Tuscany, bought new when we swapped our van a couple of years ago. We only use it once a year for our main two weeks holidays so it does the job for us. The rest of the time we use our suncamp porch.
We felt the price was enough to pay when we struggle to get it dry, we only use it once a year and dragging it round the floor to put it away doesn't help either. No matter how much you try not too.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
