Hi.

Once the cold weather is over I intend to do some resealing on my older van, I suspect I might have to replace the front upright timbers. What type of timber should be used or will B&Q pine be OK.

Thanks

JonB

Hi Jophn

my website will show you exactly what your about to take on, phase two is all about the front, just follow the caravan renovation link on the website.

I found that most of the framework is 3/4inch block softwood, I purchased it in legnths from the local timber merchant.

Hi Jophn

Just a surgestion, try what we in the Building Trade call "Slaters Lathes" for roofing all of them now adays are Tanalised ( preservitives are forced into the timber under high presure and it give the timber a longer life etc against damp and rot) try your local builders merchants for some of cuts etc? it is in a rough timber as sawn state but can be dressed with a hand plane etc best of luck.

Thanks for that Woggle,

I used to work for a door manufacturer a few years ago & we had a VacVac machine for doing a similar thing.

Thanks again.

JonB
