Can anyone help!!

Ever since buying the caravan one thing has puzzled us. In the rear seating area, why does one of the seating cushions and one of the back rests open up? If you opened them up you can completely you can cover the back seating area and make a double bed with them. However you are left with the seating cushion and back cushion for the other side. just stood there in the caravan.

I have got a plan from Baileys but that doesnt help. That just says you move the two back rests and put them in the middle to form a double bed. But it mentions nothing about why two cushions should open up?

If anyone can help it will be greatly appreciated!

Got this from Bailey site for the Provence
Front Saloon 6'8" x 4'4", Rear Double 6'8" x 4'6", Rear O/Head 5'9" x 1'11"

It looks like you can make an overhead bunk ( Rear O/Head 5'9" x 1'11"
) so this would explain the back rest and cushion .

Sorry I should have added. Yes we do have a bunk bed above the back double bed. However it has separate cushions which are kept under the seat at the back. I wondered if the seats at the back would fit the bunk bed aswell but they are too big! It just seems a mystery why two of them with fold out? Yet on the plans Bailey sent to me it doesnt seem like bailey use them open. From the model picture above that michael has kindly shown. The back rests on either side are shown to fit where the walk way would be in in order to make up the double bed. Which is what we do now. But just cant understand why two would open up?? Its bizzare!!

hi,

we too bought a provence last year, apparently it all to do with the new minimum head clearance for the person in the bed below the bunk!(that info was from barrons-not me )

we tend not to bother opening the cushions up ,just turn over the seat pads and put the  2 backrests side by side in the middle,my son is 11 and says he has plenty of room, and you have more support  ,i have tried a few combinations on the front,-always left with a piece left over !-

wife thinks one thing ,i think another ,thats life  i suppose!

other wise a geat van for the dosh, paid 11600 inc battery ,wastmaster, aquaroll, and first service ,after much haggling!

Hi Richard,
We went to the Gmex and I asked the about the caravan whilst we were there. We actually managed to speak to the lady who we had purchased the caravan from at Barrons. She told us that you were to use it folded out if you were going to use it as a permanent bed? And with the spare cushions for the back you would either try to put them underneath or leave them at home?

The plan for the front I have from Baileys shows that you leave the two funny shaped left hand corner back cushions where they are up against the wall. You then leave the seating pads exactly where they are. Remove the small seating cushion and throw to one side a moment. Next move the front and side long back support cushions and place them on the bed fram horisontal against the width of the caravan. Now that small cushion shows that it is placed horizontal next to the edge of the bed. However, I am sure that there is not enough room to put it there??

Yes it is a great van. Seems like you got a great bargain. We had to pay extra for all our extras. However about 3 months after delivery we got a cheque back for £200.00 havent a clue why. We just kept our mouths shut!! ha ha!!

Love the photo too. Where was that taken. I bet it was lovely to go caravanning in all that snow!!

hi

not sure about the permanent bed answer,??

i personally think the best comb. for the front is to turn  over the 2 large seat pads and lay them side by side across the van ,effectively giving you a mattress each ,,this means there are no joins or bumps under your body area, fill in the feet area with the remaining bits .less important as there is no real support needed here.

other half does it in a similar fashion to what barrons describe, try both and let me know

im trying to lay my hands on a largish porch awning but want to make sure it will clear the rear and kitchen window,do you use one ?

Hi Richard,
Will definately try both ways. We have the caravan on a seasonal pitch in Derbyshire. The site opens on 1st March. So i will be intouch as soon as it opens and let you know the verdict on it!

From your photo I think we have got an awning like yours an Inaca one from Barrons. Which fits the van completely.

Its strange you should say you are looking for a Porch awning cause I have been keeping a look out too for one. But as you say its making sure they fit over both windows. The ones that I have seen that have a reasonable price have either been quite flimsy or wouldnt cover both window. I will certainly keep you posted if I find one.

We are going to the NEC to the caravan exhibition there so I will keep a look out there too.

Will keep you posted.

Sam

Hi on the same subject.  I have just purchased a Baileys Pageant Provence Series 5 5 berth 2005 second hand.

I am puzzled with regards to the cushions we have available for the bunk bed.  Should there be some cushions for the bunk that are not part of the normal seating areas at the front or rear (cushions that are to be stored away when not in use)

If so, then we are missing them or if not, then please fell free to state the obvious.

I'd appreciate your help before I make a fool of myself with the dealers!
