I've looked at other threads about the Freelander, but I'm after any info about the Freelander td4, with the BMW diesel engine, registered on or about 2004.
Lots of people seem to have lots to say about them, but would ideally like to hear of any first hand experiences, good or bad!!!!
thanks!!!

What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it's all about....?
I had a Freelander TD4 for 6 months and got rid of it - it was definitely a friday afternoon car. New clutch (at 30,000 miles), new air-mass sensor (30,000 miles, broken reversing gear selector (40,000 mile)s plus a few other annoying bits and pieces
Got myself a big old Omega 2.2 diesel that is heavier than the Freelander and tows a million times better - and haven't got stuck in any mud yet.....touch wood.
I had the xedi(5dr) on a v plate with the bmw diesel for 3 years and it was the best towcar i have had, other than a niggly fault with the back window lock it never let me down once and was very economical towing a abbey 518gts.i had to change it as it was a company car.i did sell it to a friend at my oh's workplace and it has still never broken down(74k now),servicing charges were very steep mind!
I had one from new. The electrics were terrible, the front window winder kept breaking, the dashboard warning lights kept coming on - saying the traction control, brakes etc weren't working - the dash looked like a Christmas tree! I got rid of it after 3 years - with 12,000 miles on it - because it was in the garage more than I had it! BEWARE!! Mine was a 2001 Y reg model.
I like the looks of a 5 door version but that`s as far as it goes, I would never ever buy one. I repair them when accident damaged, not impressed at all with build of them, not much there for what they cost, better off with a turbo diesel saloon/hatch/estate car e.g. Mondeo, Vectra, Octavia, Passat or pay more and go to Audi, Bmw
my freelander is the 2004 shape td4 commercial no back seats we tow with it caravan and large trailers its fuel efficiant for its size and have no problems early freelanders mainly 1.8 petrol had problems. due to out door events i have taken this off road not just a grass camp site it has more capablties than you would need.
the freelander is not a big car or 4 x4 so is good around town it rivals are ravs etc.
