hi do a lot of reading on caravan stuff in mag's,about 6 a month.i do remember reading a report from a well known caravan engineer,that whichever make you buy all the motors come from the same factory,which is a worry if it goes belly up.

I store my van at a place that it is very tight space. There is no way I could get van in and out as the combination car and van is just tooo long. I used to have nightmares just thinking about putting van back to storage and praying that one of my neighbours vans would be out. Now it just goes in where it is told to go. We had reich fitted to new van when we bought it and it is the best money I have ever spent on caravanning

The problem with mr shiftas and all jokey wheel mounted movers is downforce of weight there is not a lot of traction to be had from them as the nose weight of all caravans is small they just do not perform any where near as good as a "proper" underslung type also to try to combat this they tend to be very very heavy thus you have to be pumping iron to man handle them which leads to the point of where do you store them whist 1.. not in use and 2..whilst towing? and 3..do you realy want to keep lumping them about attaching them connecting them then disconnecting them detaching them then lumping them about again?
Take the plunge and get a proper mover is my advice, honestly they are the bees knees.

I personally use a thin length of 1/4" plywood 6" wide by 2 foot long as a bearer for the jockey wheel in "difficult" terrain.
I do have a pneumatic jockey wheel which is now languishing in our garage. The pneumatic tyres seem to deflate very quickly ( compared with my dad's old wheelbarrow) and due to clearance probs I had to remove the wheel completely when travelling.
I swopped back and have no regrets!
It may be a 50p piece of plywood will solve all your problems.....well jockey wheel related anyway
