Just got back from an excellent week in the caravan at C&CC Devizes site. Used our new Scenic Plus porch and couldn't believe how easy to put up it was compared to our previous Trio porch.
But then we got thinking (dangerous I know!) how good it would be if we had a full awning made on a similar basis. Whilst I haven't found a full awning yet, I see that Sunncamp also make the "ultima" of which there largest is 3.90 metres long ( so nearly a full awning). Just wondered if anyone has one and if so what they think of it and how it compares to a "traditional" awning.
Many thanks, M.Y.

"messing about on the water"
hi Mad Yakker, we have an Ultima 390, looks lovely and from what we are told they are very good. We will be taking us away with us next week so will tell you when we return. Excellent value, we got an NEC special price (well it was after I finished with the salesman £169.00) . Thanks G
Hi, we looked at the 260 but realised that we needed an inner bedroom and this would take up 1/3rd of the awning so opted for the 390. Great idea that the inner bedroom can go at either end of the awning and also that the dors have fly screens to use as well/instead of the door. (weather dependant). Plus the front window sections can roll up. Really pleased with it.
Does anyone have the 260, using the inner sleeping section. wondering on how much room, it would give us-apparently the 390 will be too big for our van.
We have the 260 and the inner sleeping section. The inner takes up about half the size of the awning as it hooks on to one side plus the middle section - you can see the little eyes on the awning for it. The inner is huge inside though - plenty big enough for our teenage son to sleep in comfortably and he is able to stand up properly inside it.
We tend to only use this awning if we are away for 3 nights or less more than that and we use our full awning which has a sleeping pod which adds on to one of the ends but takes a lot longer to put up and take down.
We have just bought a 2nd hand SUnncamp Ultima 390 and guess what, no instruction book, does any one have a copy they would be willing to e mail me or if not any tips on putting the thing together.
The problem with these type of awnings is that if the van and ground is not like a snooker table then a perfect fit is nearly impossible without pulling on the awning so much that it puts unnecessary strain on the zips. The best solution has been discovered by Kampa who have fitted adjustable legs to the front of their Rally series, I am sure others will follow.
