Can anyone offer help with this problem?
We have a 98 Hymer caravan but its been laid up for a year due to illness. ( all better now thanks).
Today I was checking it out for a trip and no water was pumping through the Whale Pump system- the pump was dead. I cleaned the contacts of the pump to no avail & then found a blown fuse in the electrical system fuse box (fitted professional by the previous owner just like the exterior water pump system, I believe). I tried another 8amp fuse which immediatey blew as well - I assume that this is the water pump fuse as other stuff is working.
The taps have been left on all winter and I wonder if doing this has fried a pressure/micro switch circuit as some power would have been applied to the system from the battery (which after a year still had charge in it!)
Anyone any ideas where I should start to look or shall I just give it to the repair guy?
hi repair the fuse.buy a test light (screwdriver type with a clip the other end of the cable) test the contacts where the pump plugs into if it lights up,alls ok.you then could have a seized pump or a faulty pump.this will blow the fuse. take off the bottom end of the pump spray a tiny bit of WD.and turn the propeller with a screwdriver a few times.it may work ok.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
Yes Eddie I do. A few minutes after my last reply I realised what a dummie I am asking where the pump is. Its the bit thats called Whale Pump! At least its a fairly simple solution to buy another.
