Simply you lower the jockey wheel to get the van off the car, you then use it to level the van and bring the steadies down to support the weight of the corners while the wheels take the rest. After that the jockey wheel has no further purpose, it is most certainly not need to support the weight of the 'A' frame or for that matter add to the support on the front of the van although on boggy ground it might help a bit.
I have a specific reason to raise mine and mentioned it in fun but normally it's down when finished with then why not leave it there?
