Been with the RAC for years, and use their arrival service - they have come out to us wiht no problem at all.

But it would pay to remind them about what their service means.

No, really?!

Can I just ask one thing, did you actually tell the driver to slow down and be careful with your pride and joy???????? If not why not.

hi,all the time i was reminding him about his extended braking distance, and allowing a few extra seconds at junctions and roundabouts.i was also making comments on how the whole outfit was jerking about when he was knocking it back a gear or two to get a bit more out of the right pedal.....

i also suggested that maybe he should invest in a hands free kit,for his mobile!

the problem is hes supposed to be an experienced hgv driver/mechanic and i dont think he was really taking my comments on board as  im a 26 year old caravanner towing with a 92 sierra!!

luckily id only just bought the van,so it had bare minimum in it (awning and water containers)if it'd had everything else in there may have been some damage done.

I've been a member of several breakdown/recovery outfits throughout my motoring life. I have had to call them out about 4 times in about 25 years. The last time was about 10 years ago when I was in the AA. I was driving my Range Rover and towing a Suzuki LJ80 (predecessor to the SJ410) on an A-frame along with all our camping kit. The A-frame was rigged up to the brakes on the Suzi to keep everything legal, and the Suzi was taxed and tested just to keep it even more legal. Anyway, on the way back from Manby the brake master cylinder on the Rangey failed somewhere in Linconshire near the A15 (Carnes Corner, or summat?). I expected a nightmare of a recovery but I explained the situation and exactly what my outfit consisted of. Within 45 minutes an AA recovery truck turned up with a car transporter trailer in tow. We were home with both vehicles about 1 hour later. They even had a set of ramps to link the truck and trailer so there was no need to unhitch to load both vehicles. The replacement master cylinder cost less than the petrol I'd have used to get home. Great service!
