i'm considering buying a new caravan from either germany or holland, but reading a lot of articles they seem to be advicing not to do it !! i know the electrics will be different and the door and some issues with gas , but theses are not major ? has anybody got thier van from aborad and if so how easy was it to purchase
Well, over here in France, it is illegal for us to tow a UK caravan with a French car. Have you checked that it isn't similar over there before thinking about buying a continental van?
not the same in the UK, acctualy i would think this would be breaking the EU convention on open trade, as long as you meet the local road traffic act then i cant see it being an issue.
I have a German van and although I didn't import it myself I will when it's due for replacement. We went to the Dusseldorf show and the prices were amazing. 11K for a top of the range van with extra's to meet UK spec. Contrary to the previous reply there are no legal reasons why you can't do it.
If you go to forum there is a regular contributor who has imported, and can give all the info you need.
