3mm ply will come in 8' x 4' sheets and should cost no more then £8 per sheet at B&Q. Yellow pages will have timber suppliers local to you who will sell to the public and you will pay a bit less, but you will need to add VAT which might take the shine off slightly? Ask for marine grade ply (same as what you would by at B&Q).

yep it was an 8'x4' sheet and I payed 9.50 for it

got mine from a very good timber mill.
