im being a bit paranoid about getting the weights right before outr first trip tomorrow.

we have an abbey vogue 6 berth with a 'mass in running order'  of 1252kg and a max permissible weight of 1490kg. our tow car is a 2 lit ford ranger 4 x 4 with 85% kerb weight of 1479kg.  if we take 1252 from 1479 you get 227kg, is this what we are allowed to load into the van? what does this make the nose weight as?

sorry to be so dim...my hubby thinks im mad but wanted to get it right the first time.

Nose weight should be given in your handbook, but do not exceed the towball load for your vehicle if that is lower.

The payload for the caravan is the MTPLM minus the MIRO so 238 kg.  The 85% is only a guideline, a few kilos over the 85% will not matter.  This 238kg has to cover everything....battery, gas bottles etc as well as food, clothes , bedding etc.  Anything over that has to go in the car.   Better to put what you can in the car anyway and keep the weight of the van as low as possible.
