After all the warnings about remembering to close the roof vent before travelling, yes, you guessed it, I didn't lock mine properly. Struth, I am really annoyed at myself! I was fortunate in that the roof light cover was still intact, but the concertina blind which pulls over it, was in shreds. The fly screen was OK too, so I have to count my blessings I suppose. Now, I am wondering how I can replace this blind. I tried to look on the Bailey website, but they just redirect you to your local dealer. Is this going to cost a fortune to replace and is it possible to replace yourself or does a dealer have to do it? You know, I could swear I checked it before I took off!!!! Ah well, I am good at making apple tarts!!!
Try www.campingstore.co.uk - cheaper and quicker than going through your dealer - and if you can make apple tarts you will have the patience to rebuild the casette!
Hi, i know how you feel, i left mine open when i picked it up and it got ripped off on the way home, an even after thaty i nearly left a meet today with it open, once is a mstake, twice is silly!, three times, well!!!
hi in same boat some what ours was open last week fully because of the heat and the wind sucked it up causing some damage on the concertina blind, and ours was static with legs down.did have a look at it,not complicated it seams.if its the same as ours there was four covers, two on each side, these just pulled away exposing the screws.the blind cassett appears to be placed on top of the external fitting.managed to refold the blind.without being rude when you find out the cost i would like to know how much it is to buy the concertina blind and from where.

------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
Thankyou Michael for taking the trouble to photograph your roof light. Much appreciated. Apparently the Bailey's are fitted with Remi rooflights and after spending several hours trying to find a source I found this: - Leisureshop Direct Caravans - Couldn't copy and paste the website, as there was a pop up saying they were protecting their artwork! It appears you can buy the blinds (in different sizes) but they can be cut to fit. Also they say it is simple (but I know their simple and I know mine, believe me when I say there will be a difference) to fit. Prices range from £13 which sounds reasonable to me. I was quoted £76 from a dealer today for a Heki one and fitting was over and above. I have sent them an email to ask if this blind would be suitable for a roof light. When I receive a reply, I will post again. If I keep adding to this, it will be in the short novel league.
BaileyBoy, Thanks, I had a look at the site you sent, but although there were roof lights, not what I was after. Appreciate your kind response though. xx
Hello Michael, How did you do that? I tried copy and paste again, still same message. No matter, yes, that's the place. Type in Remi and then ventilation - it should take you there, hope this helps and you get what you need. Let me know. Kate.
thanks will have look looked, do not think these are the same as fitted in the bailey,ie.concertina type.if you look again at the add it says (drop) on these blinds

Dam it - you are right! And there I was, thinking I was smart finding a replacement. Ah well back to the drawing board tomorrow again! Come to think of it, wouldn't it work, using it 'across the way'. Why are they concertined anyway?? What advantage is that? Maybe the straight ones would be OK, but I suppose there's a reason which escapes me. If only I had closed the vent properly, hindsight is a wonderful thing! I won't do that again (hopefully)!!!! I contacted the company, maybe they will find what we need, but sods law says that I will probably end up getting the dealer to replace it at an amazingly high price as they do. Sometimes it's hard to justify their prices for items such as these. The drop down blinds have the catch thing at the bottom too, so to all intents and purposes they should do the trick, maybe I am clutching at straws here!
i must be fortunate, and although we have come close to driving away without shuting the roof vent a few times surely there could be some way that we could use to remind us when about to move off!!
had thought about something such as having a dream catcher hanging down as when moving in the van you would have to watch hitting your head!!! no point having something on the van roof as you cant see that!!!! perhaps a peg and a bit of string!, attached to the roof light so that when its open you cant see it but shut it would dangle and can be seen in the mirrors!!! of course none of this would work if you have a roof vent in the washroom!!! and i nearly forgot that one many times.
hi kate, glad you did order one,as said sods law it may fit, sods law it wont.someone made these for bailey its just a question of finding out WHO!!!!.i will email bailey and see what the response is.10 to1 they say ask your dealer to get one.

not clever but i have now made this the first job before packing and getting ready to leave.CHECK ALL VENTS AND WINDOWS. perhaps a card placed on the drivers seat may work.we have a two year old that loves to lift catches up.
