in need of some advice, my subject says it all.

i was not insured i pay for caravan storage in need of some advice

the van went missing aprox 5 weeks ago (unknow to me till i went to colect it)

the storage people did'nt know it had went till i asked where my van was. there cctv only covered upto 3 weeks but nothing was on there...they checked the tapes. have i any rights to clame of them...

any advice ...greatful

I don't understand how you know it went missing 5 weeks ago, surely you only know it was more than the three weeks covered by the tapes. How about the tapes for the previous three weeks? You may find it not in your best interests to claim it went 5 weeks ago. I'd advise you only say when you last saw it.

Your storage operator would be silly if they never had a disclaimer somewhere within your agreement with thme alevialting them of any claim should your property either go missing or get damaged.

Could I ask if anyone there or anyone you know, knew your van was not insured? Seems strange why yours should be singled out to be nicked.

Disclaimers by storage people are a get out clause for them if you do not know the law.  Basically it is an unfair clause and as Lostagain mentioned, it will not stand up in court and the site storage owners will be liable.  As you are paying for the facility, the storage site owners are always responsible.  Believe it or not exactly the same thing applies if your car gets damaged in a parking garage.

An update would be appreciated if the original poster still subscribes to this forum.
