I love Landrovers. I dont own one though as I live in a town with perfect tarmaced roads so dont need one. However I have driven them down the Falls Road in Belfast having bricks/molotovs etc chucked at me, I also drove then in the 1st Gulf war having AK47s & other nastys fired at me. During that time in convoy one night the Rover in front of me hit an antitank mine with the wheel of the 3/4T trailer he was pulling. The blast ripped the trailer from its hitch & planted it straight on top of the 110 which was pulling it. We salvaged what we could from what was left of the trailer. Pushed it off the roof of the 110 & carried on (after establishing a safe route obviously ). Any lesser 4x4 would of been fcuked .
Lets remember one thing. The Landrover is,nt a car. Its a comercial vehical built to do a job. Thats why its not pretty, agrcultural to drive & very, very tough. Thats why it has been in service with the British Army & many others since its conception. As well as Armys it also serves every utility company in this country & beyond. I have never seen a Gas/Electricity Co X5,Shogun, Cherokee, Xtrail, etc, etc. Its all horses for courses at the end of the day. But if I ever need a 4x4 theres only one I would get & thats a Landy. Having said that I did have a Lada Niva once which was a cracking off roader. But even that was virtually a carbon copy of a landy (apart from the engine !!) Landrover easily the best 4x4 by far. If you want comfort & gadgets get summink else.
Regards THUMPER.

Most Landie owner don't want all that computerised rubbish.....they love to spend hours tinkering about under the bonnet ect.,....When my Range Rover had a problem which turned out to be really minor....I couldn't even drive it due to the stupid computer...but hubby's Defender doesn't have this problem...he would just fix it.
