We have a swift silhouette 1992 2 berth caravan, it measures 14ft, someone gave us a 725cm awning which was way to small, now we have bought another off ebay which measures 800cm (NR awning) and our caravan measures 785cm ground to ground, we have just erected it and it was on a bit of a slope but it appeared a bit too big? The windows looked too low, are they supposed to be level with the trim of the caravan??. If this isn't the right size what size do you think i need?. We are supposed to be going away in a few days and im worried we are never going to find one that fits!!
Hi there, if the manufacturers can't help you either by a phone call or any handbooks you might have then all you have to do is measure with a piece of string from the ground, up through the awning channel and down to the ground the other side, BINGO! You now have your measurement.

Please help, thanks in advance anna & mike
Anna you will never be on a level bit fo ground, well not on less you camp on a football ground lol.
I suppose if you want to pay top dollar and buy an Isabella awning, you will get an awning that fits. In all the years I've been caravanning I have never seen a badly fitting Isabella.
I'd really like to know what it is that Isabella do in the manufacture to ensure a good fit that none of the other manufacturers seem to do.
I have a Bradcot Classic ( which didn't exactly cost peanuts) and despite any amount of fiddling with the poles simply cannot get it to look right - like they do in the brochures - and before anyone says anything, yes it is the right size for my 'van.
thanks for all your feedback, looks like we shall just have to persevere with adjusting poles etc to make it look a little bit more presentable, thanks again anna and mike

Vic, I think you will find that Isabella have slightly different sizes to other makers. Our previous awning (a Dorema) was meant to fit 950-975cm (size 13). Isabella do them in intervals of 925, 950, 975 etc. Therefore, the Isabella size 950 fitted our rail, which measures 954, much better than the size 13 Dorema, which was too generous. Isabella also boast that theirs are 'uni-cut' fabric which means that they are cut to cope with the shape of a caravan's roofline. They also have that handy 'Hercules' tool which helps get rid of puckers and wrinkes (but only in the awning )
Whatever their secret is - they make sure they charge a premium for it !!!

Thanks for that. I didn't realise that Isabella do that with their sizes. My caravan takes a 900 cm awning and the Isabella Ambasssador comes in at around a thousand to eleven hundred nicker. Sorry but I just don't use my outfit enough to justify that kind of expenditure.
On a slightly different tack, does anyone know whether you can buy an awning without the poles? My Bradcot Classic is getting a bit ancient now and is showing it in places, but the easy pole system is fine. Don't really want to fork out for the whole thing unnecessarily.......
