Sorry!! slight confusion!! Should have looked further down the page!
What it actually says is
Ex works weight 930kg
Caravan Allowable Payload 202kg
Maximum Authorised Weight 1160kg
Maximum Technical Permissable Weight 1300kg
What I don't understand is the meaning of the Maximum Authorised Weight if there is also a heavier weight given.
On our van (from the same year/brochure, Eccles Emerald) the MAW and the MTPW are both given as 1300kg. And the ex works is 1030kg.
On the Europas the 450L has the same MAW and MTPW but all the other Europas give 2 different figures. With the Eccles, the Sapphire and Emerald have the MAW and the MTPW the same while on the Jade, Opal and Diamond they are two different figures.
Thank goodness they changed the system of stating weights.
Anyway, your 850 should still be able to pull the 1300kg!
I think the Maximum Technical Permissable Weight of 1300kg is what the chassis could cope with , but the manufactuer is saying the Maximum Authorised Weight is 1160kg . So it's probably a good idea to keep to the 1160kg when loaded up . I don't think the caravan would like having 370kg of load ( what you'd have if the 930kg and 1300kg figures were used ).
I spotted you had put up this message so I am replying here. I tried to send you an e-mail through the link on the other message but it wouldn't work for some reason.
I spoke to the dealers this morning and we would be looking to get £8300 for our van, this would include our top of the range Dorema awning which we also have an annex and inner tent for. I think that this price reflects that fact that it is in such good condition, it certainly hasn't got any damp anywhere!
If you don't think it will be suitable don't worry, but it would be great if you could let us know please so that we can go ahead with our part exchange.
We have discussed your caravan at some length and if we viewed it we just know we would love it BUT it is over our budget. About £2000 over. I am in the early stages of building up a business and simply cannot afford it at this stage. I know we will kick ourselves but we will just have to be patient.
Really appreciate the offer but don't want to waste your time. Thanks again. Anyway, I'm getting quite good at this damp spotting...........might even offer a damp spotting service soon, I don't even need a damp meter!
Thank you for your reply and good luck with your caravan hunt. I am sure you will find something suitable soon.
I know you pay more from a dealer but it might be worth you having a look at Lowe and Rhodes in Stoke. They stock Sterling and Adria but also have vans that they have taken in part ex. This is where ours will go but I think they have caravans a couple of years older as well. The guys at this place are fantastic, we always feel they really look after us and nothing is too much trouble. My parents are getting a new van and although they live in N. Yorkshire I think they may end up getting theirs from Stoke as my Dad has been so impressed by the quality of aftercare we have had! If you are not too far from Stoke you could always go and have a look at what they have got in.Also if you are not in a hurry to buy one they may get a few more part exchange vans coming in after the show at the NEC next week as people order new ones. It might be even worth giving them a call and asking if this is lighly.
Anyway, once again we hope you find something soon and happy caravanning when you do.
I noticed that you were looking for storage in the Stoke area. Perhaps Lowe and Rhodes will have a list of storage places in the area as they must sometimes get asked about storage when people buy vans from them.
