Our westie Bobby decided to jump out the window of our caravan. We had the window open, but with the fly-screen down, needless to say we now have a very damaged flyscreen! but luckily the dog was fine. Has anyone tried to fit one of these, and if so are they easy to fit, (bearing in mind hubby put some kitchen cupboards up, and they fell off the wall! ) LOL as it will save us the trouble of towing it to get it replaced. Thanks in advance.
Is the mechanism damaged, or just the mesh? There is a place you can buy new mesh, should find it if you try a search on here. And I also saw someone had posted instructions on how to remove and replace the mechanism.

Thanks for responding. Yes I realised it wasn't you when I look at your threads. Thanks for posting the above, however our caravan has the remi blinds and flyscreen, so I would like to replace with the same, so I will order a new one but I was wondering if you could just fit the flyscreen or whether it came a a package with the blind, and also how easy is it to replace this, if it complicated we will wait until it's serviced and ask them to replace it, it's just that we will be using it before the next service is due. Thanks again and love the site.
Same thing happened to our blinds when "Annie" (the van) was only six months old. The dog decided he couldn't get out the first window and tried the other one as well! The dealer gave us the usual story. Wife trawled the net found www.campingstore.co.uk who posted us a roll of fly screen material we needed. The job was done one wet Sunday morning when she couldn't find anything else for me to do. Undone the plastic clips at corner, took complete unit off. Used old flyscreen as a template, we sewed the tiniest of hems to take the string of plastic, insert, put the whole lot back together again and refit on window. Also replaced the one in the loo when it became dirty with the scraps left over.

I think all dog owners should be aware that dogs will try and get out of an open window even with the flyscreen down, particulary if they see something like a rabbit a few feet outside!! Maybe I should put a post about it. Wish I had read about it, then I wouldn't have made this costly mistake! LOL
It can be done - I renovated all my blinds and replaced some flyscreens. You can dismantle the whole unit and actually fix new netting to the existing rollers. It's a bit fiddly, but well worth it in the end. I also oiled the springs in the rollers too.
I wouldn't ask a dealer to repair it when you get your van serviced, as all he would do would be to replace the entire blind unit, and the cost would be telephone numbers!
Thanks for the info. We will be bringing home to get it cleaned and ready to put to bed for winter next week, so perhaps we can have a look at it them.
