Any recomendations please on a good solid caravan mover and where to get them reasonably priced. My drive is about 1 in 6 slope pushing the van in backwards up the slope. Do not really want to pay the £800.00 cost for a remote mover since i only need it 7-8 times a year.

------------- I have forgotten more than I now know
For that incline you will definitely need a chassis fitted mover.
Everyone has different opinions about which is the best make. I have a Carver/Truma which suits my purposes totally.
I don't only use mine to get it on my drive which also has an incline. It helps with getting the 'van postioned perfectly on site and with hitching up without all that lugging and pushing, huffing and puffing.
Well worth the investment and of course if and when you change your 'van, you can have the units transferred.
I fitted a Powrtouch to my last van. When I changed to a heavier van, I had to upgrade to a more powerful unit; same motors, but additional gearing. The exchange cost about £310, and Powrtouch handled all the carriage arrangements wthout any extra cost. Their service was brilliant, and I thoroughly recommend them.
Like Vic, I use the unit for virtually every movement of the van. When reversing the van, you can stand behind it; something not possible when pushing it with the tow vehicle, and no having to rely on shouted instructions. Manoeuvring is simple, very precise and effortless. I would not be without it. We can also set out late, for overnight driving, without disturbing the neighbours.
I've got the Truma TE fitted to my caravan and only use it when it's too confined a space to use the car, prefering to manouvre with the car itself. Having said that I wouldn't be without it because the times that I have had to use it, it has been a godsend and well worth the initial investment mainly due to the weight of my twin axle and the medical condition of myself and my wife.
Yes, I find myself always wanting the goods, but reluctant to pay for them!
If you decide to bite the bullet and pay for a remote motor-mover, I would be willing to bet you'll find more occasions to use it on than you originally thought!
We bought a Powrtouch, which we future-proofed by buying the heavy-duty model, although not a necessity at the time. We've now ordered a new heavier van and are getting it transferred as part of the deal.
As Mr Ulti-mates is often heard to say 'the quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten'
- In reality, I have forgotten the actual price, although I remember that it was a lot!!
We got an excellent recon Powrtouch Mark 3 coz our tin tent is over 1200kg but it was still very reasonably priced at half the price of a brand new one. Ours cost £650 which included the fitting too as oppose to the £1300 we'd previously been quoted and we could not be happier with it.
I can even move the w-h-o-l-e tin tent all on me owny o using only....me thumbsStill need hubby to do the bending down to lock the rollers on to the wheels, but after that...whey hey! I'm off!
Cannot fault Powrtouch for their speed and quality of equipment and service, all ordered, delivered and fitted within a week only hours before we were setting off for Cornwall. Naturally, it would have been easier to give them more notice but this was a bit desperate owing to my having had a surprise booby biopsy the week before our hols which meant I couldn't even help hubby in my usual pathetic way of just guiding it with the grab rail.
Best thing since sliced bread our motor mover, (well along with me Crocs)
Get the best Axle/wheel mover that you can afford..... after all, they are all FREE.!! More or less, anyway. Every van that we have sold up to now has had a mover on it and when we have mentioned this....either with a dealer or private sale....they always allow you the extra for it. If it is a good one in good nick you will almost get your money back when you sell the van......or.....you can have it changed over onto your new van as we have done this time.

Try talking to Rhyno www.rhyno-uk.com. They are lighter, have better ground clearance and cheaper than most of the others, We had an early model Truma which we changed and it's the best investment I've made.
