we have just brought our van back from Yellowcraig cc site in Scotland where we have enjoyed a part seasonal pitch for the last 2 months. The location of this site is excellant being right next to a lovely beach but only a short distance from Edinburgh.Towards the end of the season for some of the cc sites they offer these part seasonals normally to generate some extra income from what would be empty pitches. Whilst we were there the site apart from one busy weekend was half empty, we were told prior to our arrival that we would be able to choose our pitch as is the normal club policy, but once we had arrived we had a choice of 2 pitches which in our opinion were the worst on the site, the pitch was a grass one although no grass was visible only muddy sand, the pitch was also full of holes and burrows, we were forever tripping up,there were dozens of empty pitches so i asked to speak to the warden to request that we be moved. The warden informed us that we could not move to a hard standing as the pitch that we had had been allocated was one for the part-seasonals, i asked what the logic was behind this decision as to us it appeared we had only been offered the "worst pitches" and she said yes that was correct and that we had been offered the worst" pitches! In the end we were at times the only van in a secluded area. Some people we had got to know who also had a part-seasonal and didnt ask to be moved, were asked to move by the wardens as they wanted to rotivate the fields and reseed, they just ploughed around us! Moral of this boring story dont complain! It was just frustrating to see all the empty pitches and we had to put up with mud, sand and falling into holes!
