Hi Valerie,
are you taking the caravan to Mull, or do you stay in a holiday let or an hotel? Just being nosey!
Anne
Hi Ann
We had already booked a cottage before we had the caravan. Not too sure I would want to tow a van all the way to Mull in the winter with the risk of snow and ice anyway. We are staying near Fishnish Bay (spl), we saw a family of three otters there and two sea eagles on the beach, so certainly hoping for the sea eagles from the cottage. You never let me know how you got on in the New Forest?
Valerie
Hi Valerie,
that sounds lovely, hope you enjoy it and have some real winter weather. As usual, we were unlucky with the wildlife in the New Forest, saw loads of ponies, cattle and even pigs running loose, but as for deer, forget it! we tried the places you recommended too. We went out at night and saw one fallow buck, OH said "look at the antelopes on that" (he's always getting words muddled up). We have more success with wildlife when we're not trying!
Have had 2 vent covers fitted to the caravan but was advised to remove them when using the caravan but leave them on for storage. Which is correct, anyone??
The winter covers do not cover the gas flue/vent on right hand side of top vent . And on my covers they do not fully cover vents , one slat on each existing vent is not covered so allowing a small amount of air in and out, but cutting down by 90% the cold windy draughts in van you get using fridge in winter. I checked in my handbook and says to use in winter while using caravan and for winter storage , also checked with a mobile caravan reparier i had out recently to unrelated problem . But if someone had an internet link for people to see it would help .

Do you suffer from an OCD. Obsessive Caravan Disorder.
I'd say go for it, although I wouldn't bother putting an awning up, we don't even bother for two or three nights, in the winter it might be difficult to get it dry along with everything else. The latest we have been caravanning is the second week in November but that was with an older caravan, we are having our new Bailey Ranger next week (with fixed bed, very cosy) and have booked to go to Bridgnorth, Stanmore Hall Touring Park, over the New Year period, for four nights, we can't wait! Happy caravanning.
