This was a post from 2006.
What struck me, skimming through the thread, wasn’t the information about berths (still relevant today), but how rude many people were almost 20 years ago.
Apologies for going off topic, but I’m thankful that we’re so much more respectful of each other now.
ONLY on here it seems! Try looking on other caravan/MH/camping forums, the ignorant abuse is rife, even vile!
UKCS is something to cherish, mostly our 'community' I think which is intolerant of that behaviour and doesn't generally indulge, but webmaster has dealt with occasional posts not in the right spirit - thanks due for that.
Back on topic, as ancient as OP is, think many vans are both 2 and 4 berth! They are sold as 4 berth, but reality is they are NOT 4 adult berths, so 2 adults plus 2 children! My 4 berth has convertible bunk beds/dinette, but the bunks are neither long enough or weight capable for an adult. Seen an awful lot of van specs where the full complement of beds are NOT adult beds.
So a 4 berth may actually only really be a 2 berth if no children!
I seriously looked at 2 berth vans, as only me, dog, and maybe occasional guest, so 2 seemed enough, but glad I bought the '4 berth', the extra space is VERY much appreciated. Think I would have regretted a 2 berth and maybe felt inclined to upgrade not too soon after purchase.
