Well, I'm no caravanner, but I was always given to understand that if you loaded your van properly you wouldn't need them.

My car is a bit soft on the back end so i fitted them to stop it sagging , if your car sits low on the back with the correct nose weight and you haven't got the boot over loaded , then i'd say stick some spring assistors on to help level the car out .
It always amazes me to see tow cars on the motorway with their back end almost grounding out , i'm surprised that they get any traction to the front wheels .

Hi, I can thoroughly recommend the very best suspension aids for your car....Monroe ride levellers...fantastic addition to your car even when not towing. Just inflate them to whatever pressure you require using a small compressor or even a foot pump. I used them in a Vauxhall Carlton 3ltr for years and have a Pajero now for towing so it doesn't need them.....Floyd.

I fitted a pair to my Picasso and the difference was quite noticeable. Although we check the nose weight as being near the 75 Kg, there was a bit of a "wallow" effect until they were fitted. Now, much more stable. We just need to have a bit more weight in the boot to make it dven better.

On my own it's better going round corners (stiffer). The back now rides about 1 to 2 inches higher so I have also had to adjust the headlamps.

Pinkfloyd I agree with what you are saying but the Monroe ride levellers are not available for all cars.

I could only get the M A D variable rate springs for the X Trail

FB was it the Monroes that you fitted to the Picasso

I remember reading a preview of the Picasso on a French supermarket bookstand before it came on the market.

It mentioned the Citroen hydraulic suspension and the lack of it on the Picasso was summed up by

"Quelle Domage"(excuse spelling)

Translated as "What a shame/pity"

How true that appraisal was

If you fit them to Hondas, it invalidates the entire warranty.

Hi John G, You are probably right about Monroes not fitting every car especially a Renault Espace..there could be a similar alternative though....certainly much better than spring assistors.....Floyd.

Towsure spring assisters from £8 to £15 each depending on gap between unloaded suspension spring. They are on special offer on Towsure website. Available elsewhere from £18 95 up! Never used them myself, so dont know what they are like.

You can only use them on cars with coil spring rear suspension (which is quite a lot!)

The Picasso for example has torsion bar rear suspension and so they would not fit.
I fitted the M A D springs to the Picasso with very good results.

Hi again Pink floyd I only made the comment about Monroes because after a decade with Citroen BXs and self levelling I needed an astate car prior to the Xantia coming out and bought the Peugeot 405 only to find that I could not then fit Monroes.

I can't fit them on the X Trail either which is a pity as I would like playing with a pump to adjust the suspension

When I enquired at the beginning of the year most firms didn't even answer
