I have read on several forums discussions about the build quality of modern caravans, and how many are well below the expected quality. I have also read and contributed to car review sites such as carsurvey.org. This is a worldwide site where car owners tell it how it is. The majority of reviews are complimentary, because people in general are keen to show they made the right decision in their choice of vehicle. There are those who are dissatisfied and do not hold back in their condemnation of their car. This website is particularly useful in highlighting any weak areas in a particular model e.g. one vehicle had a very high rate of fuel pump failure and another had frequent failure of bearings in the rear supension.

So how about a new section for UK Campsite called Owner Caravan Reviews or whatever, so we can all find out about potential problems before spending large amounts on a new van.

That sounds like a good idea.  People often come on and ask what a Bailey or a Sterling or an Adria are like, if we had a separate heading which was then subdivided into makes, if you were thinking of buying a Bailey, you could go to the Bailey thread and read on!

Cool idea.

This is a great idea. When we do stuff for magazines we only have the vans for a week at most, unless it's a long-term live-in. But even they are only 6 months. My own van only started falling apart after 12 months. The only slight apprehension I've got is that it's human nature to want to rant & rave if you've had a problem, but no-one really bothers to write stuff if it's positive.

In my 'real' job I work in customer services, and loads of people promise to write in when I've given them exceptional service and helped them out, but no-one ever does. But the company I work for gets its fair share of complaints.

I once posted on here about the issues I had with my van, and it turned out that it was more to do with the WAY i used my van that shook it to pieces. Other owners were more than happy. So let's hope people write the good AND the bad to make it a good representation!
