I'm looking for any caravaner that has a new or used Hyma (Eriba) Nova 580. I could be interested in buying a used one or maybe going to Germany to buy a new one. After speaking with Gary on another thread, I feel a little more confident about buying from Germany. However, I do need to see a Hymer Nova 580, before making anymore decisions....I'd appreciate some help!
susa;
The link you gave in an earlier thread does give on page 49 a layout for the 580. It is 230cm wide so is UK legal.

Its an end bathroom with fixed twin singles in the centre and the standard lounge on a 650cm body.
Cant find a way to put an image here so put one in my gallery
I have to say that it certainly looks very nice indeed, and I particularly like the larger bathroom, and the separate shower cubicle.
Having checked the photographs, wardrobe looks to be accessed from the bathroom - and looks to be a good size, standard Hymer is certainly large enough for hanging clothes, and we have two clear hard plastic storage containers that are kept on the wardrobe floor for small items - socks, pants, T shirts etc.
You people are absolute 'Stars'! To think you have taken so much trouble over 'Little ol' me' ! I'll be looking into all your suggestions, and let you know the results.
From what I understand, the wardrobe is over toilet and accessed via bathroom. It is similar to our English robes with fire under, approx. 2.5 x 4.0 feet.
Just a thought, why not contact one of the German dealers - say Koln or Dortmund, somewhere that has regular cheap flights, and ask the dealer if they would collect/return you to the airport if you went to view.

Speaking as someone who was very tempted to buy a Hymer, you should be aware that they not only have a high MTPLM, but many of the models need a tow vehicle that can take 100kg noseweight on the towball.
Having decided we could pull the van, we almost overlooked the noseweight issue and were on the verge of ordering one when the dealer pointed out that our outfit match was not recommended.
For us, the noseweight meant that only a 4x4 would do, so sadly we struck the Hymer off our 'wish list' and bought our Challenger instead.
Thanks Ulti-Mates, for your advice. Unfortunately, I'm not too sure that I understand the significance of MTPLM in relation to Noseweight. Although I'll definately study your suggestions.
As it happens, if I don't buy a Hymer 580 from Germany, then I'll possibly go for a Changer 530 and wait for the 580 layout to be sold over here, either by Hymer or Swift.
just thought i would chip in as somebody who had a new Swift Challenger 530 and changed to a Hymer 570 because of the differance in build quality.
I agree the mtplm is high and needs a 4x4 for the weight .but sfter loading my van for a trip ,i tried the noseweight guage and was surprised to find i only had 85 kg .
As it happens, I already have a Nova 570 UK on order, although the layout in Nova 580 from Germany is my preferance, hence my enquiries.
Beats me, why the Nova 580 cannot be imported as well as any other layout. And when will English manufacturers make a similar layout? Got to be a winner, according to other caravanners that I've met recently, at exhibitions I have been to!
I have just been on www.whattowcar.com to check out combination of Merc E class 320cdi estate and Hymer 580, and the result seems acceptable.
