Dear Nomads,

Is there anyone out there, that has bought a Hymer caravan direcly from Germany? As before I take that daring step, I would appreciate talking to someone who has.

Hi

There was a thread on here a few weeks ago and it did highlight some of the problems, principally connected with specification differences. (wiring/plug scockets being one that I remember)

Good luck...but lack of UK support would put me off.

There used to be a firm (German Caravans?) who handled the whole process for you, including delivery. However, a quick Google has failed to come with a current web address.

If you haven't already done so, you might find it useful to read http://www.practicalcaravan.com/features/buyingabroad.html

Thanks JTQU,

As germancaravans are local to me I naturally tried them. They say that as the had a dispute with Hymer, they no longer import Hymer Caravans. Which is why I eventually found this web site.

However, via other chat rooms, I have been directed to www.campirama.be maybe they can help?

Is it cheaper buying then from Germany then?  Or is there no dealer in England?

Hi Tentpegjenny,

Lowdhams are the main dealer in uk, unfortunately they don't import the layout I prefer, twin fixed beds with bathroom behind, alla Hymer (Eriba) Nova 580. Also Hymers are cheaper in Europe. However, it takes a certain amount of courage to buy direct from Europe, as you are on your own over there!!!

Roger
