Don't worry about it

it took me weeks of trying to do my rails in between the down pours

the only thing is when you take off the tape you have to make sure its all clean again but I'm sure you will get there in the end and it will be worth it

we had fun trying to get the rail off on the front window, had to use the angle grinder to get the screws off.  All in all it took about 5 hours with my OH and his uncle doing it and just as they finished it started to rain.  You will get there in the end and it'll be worth it when you see the end result

Well done Ian , some awning rails can be difficult , but others are easy to remove , it's just luck of the draw . There is a drill set sold by JML that cuts backwards so as it bites it unscrews the screw , that may be worth a try .
If the awning rail is stuck fast try gently heating it with a hairdrier as you lift it away ( i haven't tried this myself , so let us know how you get on if you try it ).

Hi Topbuzz,

Just to let you know that I think we may be at a similiar state of repair to yourself, and will possibly be attempting to remove the awning rail tomorrow/next weekend.

We have now removed all the wallboards on 1/2 side and front, and found that most of the battens are rotten away on both the awning rail edges and windows.

Thanks for your info & good luck with the rest of the job.
